Hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus). The European hedgehog is native to Eurasia, living in woodland, farmland and suburban areas and feeding on slugs, earthworms and insects. Hedgehogs are nocturnal, and when alarmed will roll themselves into a ball, as here, for self defence. Photographed in Kent, England.
