An early London museum poster by Rex Whistler (Reginald John "Rex" Whistler 1905 – 1944 ). Britannia rides in a hansom cab with the British crowned lion as driver, whilst a London 'bobby' (policeman) doffs his helmet. The London Museum was founded in 1911. Its collection policy was ‘only objects found in London or manufactured in London’. It collection was combined with that of the Guildhall Museum, founded in 1826 and can now be seen in their successor; the 'Museum of London'.
