Urticaceae.— An erect, little-branched, stinging herb 2 to 7 feet high, perennial; stems slender, sparingly set with stinging hairs; leaves lanceolate, long-pointed, sharply serrate, 3 to 6 inches long, 3- to 5-nerved, petioled, opposite; flowers green, very small, crowd- ed on branched, axillary stalks as long as the petioles. Infrequent to rare on alluvial land along the large streams of the state. Collected and used as the species above.
