Noble false widow spider

Similar to the potentially lethal black widow, the false widow has a bite similar to the sting of a wasp. Indigenous to the Madeira and the Canary Islands, they were thought to have been introduced to the UK, via Torquay, in a shipment of bananas in 1879. Although they are generally found in doors, they have recently found as far north as Scotland.
