Vintage photo circa 1919 of Ralph Madsen - the so-called "tallest cowboy in the world". Madsen (1897 - 1948) was 7ft 6in tall and worked circus sideshows for many years - often being billed as "The World's Tallest Man". He had a variety of nicknames, including "Sky High Madison", "High Bill Madesen", "Big Boy", the "Texas Giant" and "Tex" Madsen (although he actually came from Nebraska rather than Texas). Madsen, who also appeared in three Hollywood films, playing a giant each time, is pictured outside the Capitol in Washington DC shaking hands with John Morris Sheppard (1875 - 1941), the Democratic Senator from Texas.
