Abbey of San Clemente a Easter candlestick and the Ambo of Friar Giacomo.
The ambo seems to have been made by a less expert artist, the reliefs of the main reader, with an eagle and a lion who each support a book with their claws and paws, it is the depiction of the Tetramorph of the Evangelists with their respective Gospels: John and Marco. Another little reader, now lost, must have had the symbols of the other two Evangelists. Between the architrave and the plutei there is written the name of a certain Friar Giacomo, to be identified with the builder or the Easter candlestick is made up of elements from different periods, because it was damaged by earthquakes, a 5th century column is used for support, the main column is from the 15th century, placed to replace the one destroyed in 1349, the capital and the aedicule is from the 13th century. Mosaic insertions embellish the stone, with a Cosmatesque character. Read more :
