A red huckleberry (Vaccinium parvifolium)

The red huckleberry (Vaccinium parvifolium) is a very common, edible berry found in the Pacific Northwest west of the Cascades crest all the way down to the Pacific Ocean. It is most common below about 3,000 feet above sea level. The semi-tart berries are delicious and make excellent pies, jams & jellies, and wine.
