Orchid flowers (Renanthera matutina). The lateral (side) sepals of each flower have fused to form the lower part of the flower. This helps to attract pollinators to the central reproductive parts. This orchid is found in South-East Asia, Sumatra and Java. It is an epiphytic orchid (one that grows in trees). There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
