A 1900 portrait of British music hall entertainer Bransby Williams, (full name Bransby William Pharez; 1870 – 1961) who was a British actor, comedian known for his monologues. He became known as "The Irving of the music halls" and was so succeful that he appeared before King Edward VII at Sandringham House in a Royal Command Performance . He toured America and the UK as an actor manager, also performed in Australia, on UK radio, television (including the being the subject of 'This is Your Life' ) and in film . He also played serious parts including acting in Shakespeare's Hamlet.
