This is an example of modified Ziehl-Neelsen stain (Wade-Fite stain) demonstrating Mycobacterium leprae in a skin biopsy from a case of lepromatous leprosy. The mycobacteria appear red and are present in large numbers, singly as well as in clusters (globi). Magnification: x10 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
