Tydeman's Michaelmas Red apple - Malus Domestica. UK variety a crossed variety between McIntosh and Worcester Pearmain. First raised in 1929 by H M Tydeman, EMRS, Kent. The fruit has a deep red flush with bloom and has a juicy, sweet, slightly raspberry flavour becoming strongly winey and scented, but often underlying a metallic taste. The apple has a tough skin. Pick early September, store November-January.
