The Burchells zebra Equus burchellii is also known as the plains zebra and is strictly dependent on water and will tend to stay in close proximity to it. It is a black and white striped pony and resides in scrub and grassland being an unselective bulk feeder. Can maintain good body condition on very poor quality feed.
