Ornamental water fountain with Town Hall clock tower beyond, Town Hall Square, Leicester, England, UK. The fountain was a gift from Israel Hart, a former Mayor of Leicester and was unveiled by him in 1879. The main structure of the fountain and the winged lions are made from bronze painted cast iron which stands on a base of rusticated Ross of Mull granite. The surrounding water basin is made from Shap granite. and the stone posts supporting the railings are made from polished Ross of Mull granite. The fountain was designed by the architect Francis Hames, who also designed the Town Hall and the layout of the Town Hall Square.
