Sycamore Gap on Hadrian's Wall

A stretch of the central section Hadrian's Wall. The photograph is looking west from the path leading down from Highshield Crag about a mile west of Housesteads. This dip in the landscape is known as Sycamore Gap and gained some fame locally for being used as a location in the movie "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves". Nearest car parks are at Steel Rigg and Housesteads both about a half hour drive from Hexham.
