A Pappenheim rapier,German,circa 1630 A broad double-edged blade with a diamond shaped cross-section. The reverse side of the ricasso bears the crowned smith mark "S" in a heraldic shield. Blackened iron knucklebow hilt with S-shaped quillons. The two guard plates have round and star-shaped perforations. Faceted oval pommel. Grip with original iron wire winding and braided ferrules. Length 106 cm.
