A beautiful example of an Alfred Grille Dahlia (Cactus Dahlia - family Asteraceae) with a two tone pink and yellow "double bloom", Lower Austria


As a member of the Asteraceae, the flower head is actually a composite (hence the older name Compositae) with both central disc florets and surrounding ray florets. The flowers are double blooms, ray florets pointed, with majority revolute (rolled) over more than fifty percent of their longitudinal axis
