Design for a Chimneypiece, Graphite, pen and ink, brush and watercolor on paper, The inner frame consists of moldings and outside, of a frieze whose back is suggested white, at left, of colored marble, at right. It is decorated by a band of palmettes and buds. Below are bases. Embedded fluted columns standing upon plinths flank the inner frame. They have composit capitals and support an entablature, whose frieze shows three oblongs of colored marble with festoons in appliqués. Ovoidal frames with bow knots on top are upon the white parts. Laterally are receding strips. Short base line.
