Petty Officer Persi is spraying saccharine, a harmless substance into the hood to test for leaks while Sailors are being fitted for correct size. Saccharine produces a harmless odor when inhaled. Tarawa is the flagship for Expeditionary Strike Group One (ESG-1), currently on a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
