A Civil War monument in front of the DeKalb County Courthouse in Sycamore, Illinois. The memorial was erected in 1896 and predates the current courthouse which was built in 1905 and was created by an unknown sculpture. The memorial honors thousands of DeKalb County residents who served in the American Civil War. On the east facade of the memorial the word "Antietam", denoting the Battle of Antietam, is misspelled. The memorial is included among the buildings and structures in the Sycamore Historic District which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
