Distended snake after feeding. Close-up of the distended section of a blunt-headed tree snake (Imantodes cenchoa) that has eaten a lizard. Snakes swallow their prey whole, to be slowly digested in the digestive tract, leading to this swollen appearance after eating. This snake is also known as the mapepire corde violon. It feeds on lizards, frogs and eggs. Photographed in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
