The Zeitelmoos ( formerly Zerrmoss,Zerrnmooß, Zehrlmoß and Zeitelweydis) is a forest and raised bog area in the Fichtelgebirge (Upper Franconia ) between the towns of Wunsiedel , Hildenbach , Vordorf and Grün in the district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge. Though the word Zeitel means forest beekeeping, the area has long been connected with strange folk tales and legends of hauntings, ghostly figures, elves , little gray men and mossy green women. This 1840's engraving depicts a traveller coping with the dangers of the area which is now a nature reserve.
