On January 1, 1931 in Vitebsk the pilots school for Civil aviation is created. The history of Vitebsk aeroclub begins with this 1933 the school of pilots was transformed to aeroclub. The glider school and parachute section of OSOAVIAXIM organizationally united with it. On January 21, 1964 the Vitebsk aeroclub was transformed to the educational and aviation center for training of specialists for Armed forces of the USSR (EAC). 14 pilots from Vitebsk aeroclub during the Great Patriotic War received a high rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union, a name of one of them, Gorovetz it is appropriated to Vitebsk EAC on December 26, 1981. In 1991 Vitebsk EAC was disbanded and on its base the Vitebsk aeroclub was created. Now in aeroclub is developing parachute and helicopter sports.
