Cup with ibex ORIGIN Aghkand (northwestern Iran) DATING XII-XIII century MEDIUM Clay earth, white engobe, scratched decoration and enamels Flat-bottomed cup and vertical walls, with three appendages at the edge in the form of an animal head, perforated to allow suspension. The decoration of the bottom, in "scratched" on white engobe and enamelled in brown, yellow and green, reproduces an ibex with long curved horns, jumping in the middle of ribbon-like plant motifs. The central image is surrounded by a wide ring with dense crossed strokes engraved. The interior walls are adorned with triangles and stylized plant motifs; the flat edge is decorated with alternately yellow and green triangles. The outer walls are adorned with "sawtooth" friezes.
