A valuable and effective variety for grouping with purple-leaved trees. $ Acer rubruin. Red or Scarlet Maple. Red-bud Maple. A native species, of medium size, and rounded head ; produces deep red blossoms, which appear before the leaves. In autumn the foliage changes to brilliant scarlet, rendering the tree very conspicuous.
