People removed digitally. Lion Madressa viewed from the Tilla-Kari Medressa in the Registan in the ancient Silk Road city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Three madressas (Lion, Tilla-Kari, Uleg Bek) comprise the Registan Square. The Lion Madressa takes its name from the representational mosaic lions on the pishtak (entry arch), a very unusual feature in Islamic architecture.
