Ossana Cusiano Forges Altitude 1003 Ossana is located on a gentle slope, near which flows into the Valley Pejo in Val di Sole, with a panoramic view of both valleys. Ossana are part of the villages of Cusiano, place a little further down, and forges, both crossed by the highway that leads to the Passo del Tonale. Towering over the country, the culmination of a rocky outcrop, the ruins of the ancient castle of St. Michael, whose existence is known about even before 1200. Behind the town runs a narrow road to the nearby Val Piana, a quiet mountain area surrounded by green woods, the ideal starting point for easy walks or real altitude training. The church dedicated to St. Ossana Vigil turns out to be the oldest in the upper valley, built around 1180 it was rebuilt in 1500 and renovated 300 years later. Another church dedicated to St. Anthony and more recently (1700), is located on a small promontory just outside the village on the road to Cusiano. From the side of the road climbs a hill adorned with the ancient capitals of the Cross dates back to 1733, after which a few decades ago it was built a small monument in memory of a plane crash in 1956 on Mount Giner.
