La Sagrada Familia at twilight, with the Moon seen through clouds. The La Sagrada Familia ('The Holy Family') is a Roman Catholic church being built in Barcelona, Spain. The construction of this church was started in 1882 by the Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi, and incorporates his geometrical ideas as well as aspects of Cubism and Art Nouveau. It was thought that it would take several hundred years to finish the building of the church, but modern computer-aided design and construction methods have been used since the 1980s and may allow completion by around 2026.
