Starting in 2013 the residents of the tiny Hebridean Island of Colonsay embarked on a major project to remove all marine litter from their 50 mile coastline and beaches. Although the work continues (as new marine litter arrives) the results have been staggering. Residents, volunteers and holidaymakers are all encouraged to collect litter and leave it at collection points for disposal.
