Stoney Littleton Longbarrow, near Bath in the west of England, is one of the country's finest accesible Neolithic chambered tombs. It is in the care of English Heritage and is open all the time. It dates from about 3500BC and is about 30 metres long and features multi-sided chambres where human remains were once buried. It is set in an agricultural landscape which has been farmed continuously since Neolithic times. The barrow remained intact until 1760 when a local farmer, seeking building stone, broke in and most of the contents were excavation of 1816 recorded burnt bones and two or three skeletons, since lost.
