The view of dried Blue Lake in the western part of Kiev,environmental disaster after several years of authoties failing to fund drenage, water supply. War crisis, corruption resulted in the lack of funds to make dranage and clean up of spring waters. This lake was legendary, the story holds that famous Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko when leaving for the last time to St Petersburg from his native Ukraine passed by this lake in September 1859. This used to be marvellous place, plenty of fish, swamp turtles, otters, ducks and other fauna lived here, now ALL is gone! Lethal siltation of the lake combined with the fathal loss of groundwater killed the lake. According to legend, this lake was created yet during the Ice Age. The authorities planned to spend about $1mn to help the problem.
