The sawn timber cargo washes up on the beach in Brighton and Hove following the sinking of the Greek cargo ship Ice Prince

On Tuesday 15th January, a Greek ship registred as 'Ice Prince' sank about 42 km (26 miles) off the Dorset coast after a storm. The ship was carrying over 5000 tonnes of timber. Thousands of pieces of timber have been washed up on the beaches across southern England. In some cases the beaches had to be closed by police to deter the public from removing the wood.
