July to September is the brief spring period in Namaqualand when winter showers lead to spectacular shows of wild flowers which may not be repeated for a number of years till good winter rains fall again These flowers are near Van Rhynsdorp in an area called the Knersvlakte In this picture a bit of water remains in a little dam after good winter rains
