16th century illustration from the book Perspectiva Corporum Regularium showing polyhedral shapes becoming increasingly complex at the bottom. Perspectiva Corporum Regularium was a book containing polyhedral variants based on the five Platonic solids. Published in 1568 by Swiss-German Jost Amman using the designs of German goldsmith Wenzel Jamnitzer.
