Texel lamb with ear damage. This disfiguring of young lambs' ears is being caused by new electronic ear tags that get caught in fences and undergrowth and ripped out. Domestic sheep (Ovis aries) are farmed for their wool and meat. The Texel breed is prized for its lean meat. Photographed in 2011, in the UK.
