Wooly thistle (Cirsium eriophorum). Bee pollinating thistle flower. This form of pollination is called entomophily. Pollen grains of entomophilous plants are larger than the fine pollens of anemophilous (wind pollinated) plants. They are a more nutritional value to insects, who may use them for food and inadvertently spread them to other flowers.
