Khari gives an intimidating snarl BLACKPOOL ZOO, ENGLAND AMAZING IMAGES show a lion staring at the photographer while in the act of feasting - just like they are thinking of eating HIM. Images show male lion Khari (8) contorting his body and snarling at the crowd before enjoying his meal on the rock as a brave magpie dares to sit near him while female Hira (4) has just a few feathers sticking out of her mouth. Born in Blackpool in 2015, Khari moved to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in spring last year to allow the £ redevelopment and extension to take place. He returned in May 2023 and had lost his mane after the insertion of a contraceptive implant to stop him from breeding was inserted, the implant has now been removed and his mane should return. Hira arrived from West Midland Safari Park in May 2023 along with Emma and Narla and 'have been settling in really well'. Hira, who will be four in September, along with Emma and Narla, who are both 18, were all born at West Midlands Safari Park and have close bonds with each other. Keepers describe Hira as 'more of a gentle soul who looks to them for leadership' These images were captured by photographer Gary Cox (53) from Manchester, England. Gary captured these intense images at Blackpool Zoo, England on his Canon 80D camera with Sigma 150-600mm. ?I arrived at the lion enclosure shortly after feeding time. Watching them was fascinating, seeing the raw power made me thankful I was not in there with them,? said Gary. ?I have witnessed feeding time on a few occasions but not with this crouching pose, looking very dynamic and showing off the powerful muscles. ?I couldn?t take my eyes, and camera lens, away from the scene. It's great to see their teeth, especially when tearing into food and not just yawning. ?Witnessing these amazing animals close up will never be anything short of amazing. ?To be able to see them in their true majesty is always thrilling, attempting to get a dynamic pose and hoping they look
