Death mask of Jan Palach in the exhibition in the National Museum in Prague, Czech Republic. Jan Palach was a Czech student who committed suicide by self-immolation as a protest against the Soviet invasion to Czechoslovakia in 1968. His death mask taken by Czech sculptor Olbram Zoubek. Exhibition 1968… and tanks arrived in the National Museum was dedicated to 40th anniversary of the end of Prague Spring communist reform movement in 1968 in former Czechoslovakia, which was stopped by the invasion of five Warsaw Pact armies from the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary and East Germany on August 21, 1968.
