A helmet for officers of the Volunteer Royal Engineers, circa 1900 Skull covered with black felt, fittings made from non-ferrous metal, partly gilt. Cross base with roses in relief and screwed-on point. Frostily gilt emblem in very good condition. Chain underlaid with velvet, on roses in relief. Champagne-coloured, quilted velvet lining with golden manufacturer´s stamp "J. B. Johnstone, London / Dublin". Bright leather sweatband. In the original sheet box with owner´s badge "C. L.
