Centro Português de Fotografia (Portuguese Center of Photography) Porto, Portugal


Mosteiro de São Bento da Vitória (top left) stands on Rua de São Bento da Vitória, Porto, Portugal. It’s a 16th Century Benedictine Monastery, more recently, it was the home to the Classical Orchestra of Porto, and now houses a theatre. Top Right: Centro Português de Fotografia (The Portuguese Center of Photography) is installed in the building that served as a prison, the ratio of the chain, located in the historic center of Porto, next to the Tower of the Clerics. It was created in 1997. The first exhibition opened in December of the same year, with the ground floor functioned as exhibition space by December 2000. At that time the building closed to finish the renovation and adequacy of building the new functions and then re-opened in October 2001.
