Boulder's "rightsizing" experiment on Folsom St., which turned into a political hot potato.

These photos were made after the city of Boulder "rightsized" Folsom St., which is an alternate route many locals use to avoid traffic and light on 28th St. (Rt. 36). The city re-purposed traffic lanes to create safer bike lanes in both directions. The change cause some serious traffic jams for motorized vehicles. Negative responses from car drivers forced the city to return lanes to car traffic in the most congested areas farther south. The new wider bike lanes were kept in areas farther north, where auto traffic delays were not as much of a problem.
