Light micrograph of the wall of a cross-sectioned elastic artery stained with haematoxylin and eosin. The wavy pink lines are the elastic laminae, which are very abundant in this type of blood vessel. Among the elastic lamellae there are elongated nuclei of smooth muscle fibres.
