A very unorthodox Catholic Church in Barnbach, Austria, St. Barbara's, was completely re-designed, both inside and out, including the grounds, by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, in 1987-1988. Father Zeck (the assigned priest at the time) wanted an entire revamping of the church and the grounds and gave Hundertwasser free reign over the design. The result of his work that one sees here today, was obvious and controversial to all passersby.
