David Belasco, (1853-1931) Jewish American impresario, director, playwright, manager and antique collector- from a 1919 book of cartoon caricatures of famous people of the time by artist Giovanni Viafora (USA). He pioneered lots of then innovative forms of stage lighting and special lighting and was the first writer to adapt the story of Madame Butterfly for the stage.
