Mediaeval paintings on part of the rood screen at St Nicholas church, Salthouse, Norfolk. DETAILS IN DESCRIPTION.

The rood screen at Salthouse dates from 1513, but the surviving sections were moved to the back of the church in the 1930s. The paintings have been identified by Pevsner as being of 16 saints, but are now thought to be a mixture of saints and other individuals who were either prophets or possibly church donors. The faces were defaced during the iconoclasm of the Reformation or Civil War period. The paintings in the photograph are (L-R): St Thomas, a prophet, St John the Evangelist, another prophet and probably St Peter.
