World's largest gold nugget. Replica of The Welcome Stranger, a gold nugget weighing 2,284 oz (see note below), found in Moliagul, Victoria, Australia in February 1869. The nugget was broken up before a visual record was made and the reproduction, although the same size and weight, may not be an accurate representation of shape.

The nugget was too large to be weighed on bank scales and so was cut into smaller pieces. The total weight of the nugget, including what was obtained from the crushed quartz and other pieces broken off, was estimated at kg (2,332 oz). However, the weight shown on a card by the replica in the Gold Museum is 2,284 oz.
