Monarch Butterflies Feeding on Tropical Milkweed in Southern Louisiana Garden

Every year I plant milkweed, both native and tropical types, to serve as host plants for monarch butterflies to lay their eggs. After the eggs hatch and metamorphosis is complete, the adult butterflies return to the milkweed plants, not to eat the leaves as they do in the caterpillar stage, but to extract nectar from the flowers of the same plant. It's a joy to watch the cycle.
