Small tubers of New Zealand yam/ oca or oxalis tuberosa being planted directly in the ground in spring. (Instructional, how to grow yams.)

Instructional. How to grow yams. New Zealand yams are a healthy tuber or root vegetable. To grow yams either plant separately in a 6 inch pot in spring, generally April in the UK, then plant out or plant directly in the soil when the danger of frost is past. Protect with fleece if there is a frost in November to extend the season for harvesting in December.
