Xiphactinus fish fossil. This sample shows the fossil skull of Xiphactinus audax, a very large and voracious predator fish that lived during the Late Cretaceous era in the seas that covered part of North America. This skull is about 40 centimetres long, but fossil remains of Xiphactinus have been found indicating a body length of 5 metres.
