In August Meagher, Terence MacManus, O’Brien and Patrick O’Donoghue were arrested, tried for treason and transported to Tasmania, Australia.

They were given a sentence to be ‘hanged, drawn and quartered’, but International pressure forced a royal clemency with the death sentence commuted to exile on the island of Tasmania in Australia.
