Chilean rhubarb (Gunnera tinctoria)


Plant has spiny stalks and textured leaves that can grow to five feet in diameter. In summer gives rise to large cone-like blossoms each with hundreds of either male of female flowers. In Chile, the young stalks are peeled and eaten as a vegetable.
